Services for Schools

The Association provides a variety of services for the introduction of orienteering in primary and secondary schools.

Services include:

  • Organisation of orienteering events at schools or suitable nearby areas;
  • Professionally prepared orienteering maps of schools or suitable nearby area;
  • Teacher training, including Level 0 coaching courses; and
  • Assistance to schools who wish to establish orienteering as a school sport and/or conduct their own orienteering programs.

Events can be tailored to particular schools (or groups of schools) needs and can also be conducted through the Premier's Sporting Challenge and Active After-school Communities Program.

The Association is also able to offer schools a discounted package that includes mapping of the school, training of teachers and development of a program tailored to an individual school's requirements.  Additional discounts may also be available to small schools or disadvantaged schools.  Please talk to our Development Officers about how the Association may be able to help your school get into orienteering.

Development Officers and member clubs are available to assist within the Sydney metropolitan and Hunter Valley areas.  There are a number of clubs that are also active and available to assist schools in regional areas plus development officers can often provide assistance remotely for regional areas.

An application form to book your School in to the Association's development schedule can be found here and details of the costs involved can be found here (please note that prices exclude GST).
